No matter what MMORPG you play, there is normally an important decision to make. Joining a faction is one of the most important parts of New World, with three distract factions to choose from.
New World’s Factions are allegiances that provide special stat benefits, special equipment, goods, and more than other means cannot obtain. These are not player guilds but are instead far-reaching groups whose dominance in areas can impact your game.
Completing Faction Quests rewards you with Faction Tokens alongside increasing reputation in your faction. Faction Tokens are used to trade for specific equipment, materials, or consumables bound only to your chosen faction. Factions will also open up territory control and faction wars. Faction wars will pit you against other factions alongside allies in 50 v 50 player siege combat to conquer the land, gaining a territorial advantage. Controlling territories allow your faction to receive benefits such as earning more NW Coins, increased XP, reduced cost of using workshops, lowering the cooldowns of fast travel, and more within territories. So, which is the best for you? This is a surprisingly complicated subject.
The Marauders - A brutal military force employing courage, perseverance, and discipline to bring order to the island.
The Syndicate - A shadowy organization was utilizing intellect, logic, and reason to apply power through forbidden knowledge.
The Covenant - A religious organization using justice, holiness, and hope to place itself in charge of cleansing the land of corruption toward restoration.
You may be wondering what you would gain by joining another group; there is little difference between the three factions. For now, it appears like the only distinction between them is that you get a unique dye pack that you may use on your armor. There may be special missions and a few rare things for your house that correspond to your faction.
Ask your friends which faction they are joining, and this might help make your decision easier. In addition, it may be worth considering your server balance when selecting a faction. Picking the biggest faction on your server means you’ll get more bonuses as you play, but you have a lower chance of being selected for wars or encountering enemies in open-world PvP. Picking one of the ‘underdogs’ means you can team up against the biggest faction and are in with a better chance of staking a claim for your own company if you manage to wrest back control of the area. If the server balance is more or less equal, and you don’t have any pre-existing allegiances, we recommend you choose the faction you prefer the lore and feel of.
Joining a certain Faction is not permanent. After the first time in changing your faction, you will not be allowed to change it again for 120 days. Changing Factions will reset your faction Rank alongside Faction Tokens. You cannot change Factions to another that currently controls the most territory. There is an underdog mechanic in play, so no Faction is left behind in catching up.
